Betty's Woven Radiance Quilt in Tula Pink True Colors + A Shout Out to Samwise for National Dog Day

Hey there, Quiltfolk!  Today I'm sharing a quilt made by my client Betty for her young granddaughter, who was personally involved in selecting the Tula Pink True Colors fabrics for her quilt.  (This post contains affiliate links).

Quilting Whirligig on Betty's Woven Radiance Quilt

With a quilt like this one, it's all about those dazzling print fabrics -- the quilting design needs to be secondary and subtle.  We chose Karlee Porter's Whirligig quilting design because I felt like Karlee's mod flowers channeled a similar vibe as the Tula Pink fabrics, and I liked the movement of the wavy horizontal lines connecting the quilted flowers and bubbles.  Thread is Glide in a pale blue-green called Mint Julep and the batting is Quilters Dream Cotton

By the way, Woven Radiance was designed by Stacey Day for Free Spirit Fabrics to promote the Tula Pink True Colors fabric collection.  The pattern for Woven Radiance is available as a FREE download from the pattern designer here.  I love the color placement in this quilt -- it just shimmers!

I really struggled to get photos where you could see the quilting at all.  That pale green thread blends so well into all of the fabrics.

Here's what Betty's fabulous quilt top looked like prior to quilting:

Thanks so much for choosing me to quilt this for you, Betty!

🌺🌺🌺. PSST!!  I'd Love to Quilt for YOU!

By the way, if you or any of your quilty friends has a quilt top or two that needs quilting, I'd be delighted to quilt for you!  I am currently scheduling quilts for completion in late October, so please let me know ASAP if you are working on quilts with holiday deadlines.  Click here to learn how easy it is to book a quilt with me!

Oh, and one more thing -- please join me in wishing my dog Sam a Happy Belated National Dog Day, because apparently this is a thing now and I missed it.  I am pretty sure I was supposed to take him out for brunch on Friday, to a place that serves nothing but bacon and cheese.

Samwise the Snuggle Puss

Actually, I was kidding about the dog restaurant, but did you know they are selling special frozen treats for dogs in grocery stores now?  Right next to the ice cream treats for people, I spied THIS in the freezer aisle on a recent grocery run:

Frozen Yogurt Dog Treat from The Bear and the Rat, at your Local Grocer

Yes, this is Yogurt Bacon and Peanut Butter Frozen Dog Treats.  I am not shocked that they carry this stuff at Whole Foods, but they had it at the regular Harris Teeter, too.  I hope my dog doesn't know about this.

Ben & Jerry's makes frozen dog treats now, too:

Doggy Desserts from Ben and Jerry's

What these frozen dog treats all have in common is disgusting flavor combos that only a dog could love (like bacon pretzel, or pumpkin cheese), and that they contain little or no dairy since many dogs get upset tummies from eating dairy.  You can read more about this on Ben & Jerry's web site here.  I have not yet spoiled Sam with any of these frozen doggy desserts, but don't feel too badly for him.  I have been known to steal meat off my own son's dinner plate and feed it to the dog when no one is looking.  Shhh...

I'm linking up today's post with Susan's National Dog Day linky party at Quilt Fabrication, and with my other favorite linky parties (listed on the left sidebar of my blog).  Happy quilting, everyone!

my daughter found these frozen treats last year - she spoils her doggy to - but my other daughter says her dog is not getting any treats this week as she ate a sock and ended up at the vet! no treats for that bad doggy.
Lovely quilt - love all those colors and your quilting looks great

Gorgeous quilt, and your quilting is just perfect for it! As for the frozen doggie treats, I'm not letting my dog near this post -- what she doesn't know won't hurt her. ;)

You've done a beautiful job quilting this for your client. She has a great eye for color and you have a great eye for quilting motifs that enhance the quilt. Wow!

Nice quilt, a little loud for me, but there was a lot of thought and work that went into this quilt! Hugs!
